Tunisia – Italian waste case: postponement of trial and refusal to release defendants

The Tunis court of first instance examined this Friday, the first hearing on Friday of the Italian waste case illegally imported into Tunisia.

The defendants in a state of arrest, including an ex-minister of the environment, were presented to the Court, as well as a certain number of suspects in a state of freedom.

The defence asked for the postponement of examining the file and presented requests for the release of the defendants.

The Court decided to delay a later date and did not follow up on release requests.
