Tunisia- Italy expels to Tunisia accomplice of Berlin attacker

Italy has expelled to Tunisia Montassar Yaakoubi, a Tunisian associated with Anis Amri, the man who killed 12 people on 19 December 2016 in Berlin after driving a truck into a Christmas market,The North Africa Post reports.

According to local media,A statement by the Italian interior ministry issued on June 6 said, Yaakoubi has expelled from Italy to Tunisia on a special flight. The ministry did not elaborate on the date of deportation.

Yaakoubi was arrested in 2018 along five people who were connected to Amri. He according to the ministry, they hosted Amri before he moved to Germany in 2015.

Amri, who had been refused asylum in Germany, stole a truck after killing the driver and drove it through Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church at Breitscheidplatz in Berlin, leaving 12 people killed.

He fled Germany after the attack and was later nabbed by the Italian police near Milan on December 23. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the truck attack.
