Tunisia-Jababli: “Approximately 3,000 voluntary returns of migrants have been registered since start of year” [Video]

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, spokesman for the General Administration of the National Guard, Brigadier General Hossam El-Din El-Jababli, stated today, Thursday, May 23, 2024, that about 3,000 voluntary returns of sub-Saharan African migrants to their countries of origin were registered between January 1, 2024, and this month of May. He remarked that coordination continues among security units, the Tunisian Red Crescent, and organizations concerned with immigration to ease this process.

Al-Jababli added that various sub-Saharan African nationalities are in the process of contacting the security centres, particularly in Jebniana and Al-Amera, and even in the National Guard territory in Sfax, to enlist and provide personal data to coordinate the voluntary return to their countries.

He likewise pointed out that the International Organization for Migration has approved a set of procedures related to the registration of migrants, noting that the security units are operating to provide all required facilities.
