Tunisia-Jabali reveals results of security operations on New Year,Including elimination of 3 terrorists and arrest of 67 takfiri elements

Spokesperson for the National Guard, Brigadier General Houssam Eddine Jebabli, presented Today, on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 details about the outcomes of security campaigns carried by various units, structures, and corps of the Ministry of the Interior on New Year’s Eve, with a specific emphasis on counterterrorism efforts.

Brigadier General Jebabli revealed that these proactive security campaigns resulted in the elimination of three terrorists by units of the National Guard and the National Army. Further, numerous people affiliated with extremist ideologies, totalling approximately 67, were apprehended. These individuals had existing jail sentences and were subjects of ongoing inquiries by the judiciary. These operations were carried out since the start of December and were part of the Counter-Terrorism Department’s initiatives.

The spokesperson highlighted that, in partnership with various security units, health structures, and economic control entities, actions were taken to address issues linked to monopoly and speculation. Many tons of food products and subsidized materials planned for distribution outside legal channels were seized. Furthermore, authorities confiscated different products and beverages that used expired materials in their manufacturing process, which were intended for distribution on New Year’s Eve.

Brigadier General Jebabli likewise pointed out the discovery of several unauthorized slaughterhouses where birds and poultry were processed in unhygienic conditions. Coordination was made with the Public Prosecution to secure their destruction, and this effort was completed before New Year’s Eve.
