Tunisia-Jendouba: A funeral results in archaeological discovery

Following a burial carried out in the Bouchagra cemetery, located in the Boussalem delegation in Jendouba, archaeological pieces were found.

The regional heritage inspectorate in the north-west, under the supervision of researcher Mohieddine Chaouali, made an instant intervention on November 3, 2020, following the information it received.

On-site, a quantity of ceramics, ashes, human and animal bones, and 2,770 bronze pieces dating from the reign of the Roman Emperor Gratian (367 to 383) were discovered.

The tomb is, according to corroborating source belongs to a farmer who lived in the area at the time.
