Tunisia- Kairouan: Hospital refuses to accept woman in labor due to coronavirus

A Doctor and several midwives and the paramedical framework in the obstetric department of Ibn Al-Jazzar Regional hospital in Kairouan declined to accept a woman who went into labor for fear of being infected by a coronavirus. She was coming from Haffuz regional hospital.

Despite attempts by the doctor who accompanied her she was refused admission and had to be delivered in the ambulance, reports Mosaique FM.

For his part, Director of Preventive Health care in the region Amara Jemli stressed that the woman was refused entry for fearing she had the virus since her husband is placed in quarantine after returning from Djerba, hence the head of the department did want to jeopardize the entire department.Kairouan regional health director said that not accepting the woman was a severe mistake since their a department for suspected cases.
