Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, Former Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York Kaïs Kabtani condemned the impersonation directed at destroying his relationship with President Kais Saied. He revealed that his relationship with the President of the Republic was based on mutual respect, adding that he does not recognise who could be behind the slanderous comments that were shared on his behalf since he does not even have a Twitter account. “If it turns out that someone has intentionally sought to harm me or the Tunisian state, I will file a complaint,” he said, dismissing everything that has been said outright.
This dismissal follows the controversy encompassing the so-called Tweets of Kaïs Kabtani in which a person assuming his identity wrote: “I went a lot with Kais Saied around the presidential palace and in most of his meetings. I was going on a trip just a day before the United Nations meetings and would come back as soon as the meeting was over. Each time he always requested me what impression he had left and if anyone had requested a question about him … Without even asking me sometimes what occurred in the meeting. Kais Saied doesn’t want dialogue and doesn’t give anyone the chance to show their opinions and silence them…. He is often hurtful and does not wait to humiliate the person who upsets him regardless of his position…. The people should understand that this time the army will not be on their side…. Kais Saied doesn’t like protests and is continually worried about opinion polls… He doesn’t accept being opposed to him and revenge on anyone who tries to challenge him… sometimes he goes as far as physical violence … He has already hit Fakhfekh, Mechichi and Ghdiri the former Tunisian ambassador to Turkey… He is only scared of General Hamdi ”. The fake profile likewise called Kais Saied an autistic and implied he was bipolar, adding that it was the French and American secret services that helped him get the post of President of the Republic when they knew for his mental disorders.
