The former permanent representative of Tunisia to the UN Kais Kabtani has chosen to file a complaint against the head of the presidential cabinet Nadia Akacha for “abuse of authority and conspiracy to incite defamation”, Acharaa Al Magharibi reported.
It all began with the revelation of a recording in which Akkache challenged the former Tunisian ambassador of mismanagement and urged bloggers to publish this information and “create a scandal”.
According to Akkache, Kabtani supposedly used public money to spend additional expenses, including new curtains for the embassy and for his own home, as well as presenting relatively expensive gifts (mosaic paintings) to overseas diplomats.
The former ambassador refuted the accusation who asserted that the embassy curtains have been the same for approximately 20 years and that the value of the gifts in question does not exceed $ 4,000 each, a modest amount in diplomatic practices according to Kabtani.
The latter also rejected the existence of disputes between him and members of the diplomatic mission, assuring that no disputes, even minor, took place between the members of the team.
The diplomat said he was surprised by the silence of President Kais Saied in the face of the “dubious practices” of his chief of staff, indicating that Akkacha will pay the price for this defamation and announcing that he will file a complaint against the latter.
