Tunisia – Kaïs Saïed arrives in Gabes

The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, arrived this morning, Sunday, July 7, 2024, in Al-Zarat (Gabès) to inaugurate a seawater desalination plant, ready to be used after the success of experimental operations there. some time ago.

Al-Zarat seawater desalination plant is part of the strategic program of the National Water Exploitation and Distribution Company, aimed at developing water resources in the southeast and securing them until 2035. This project will profit 1.1 million inhabitants, enabling SONEDE to meet the expanded demand for drinking water and improve its quality in the southeastern regions, therefore mitigating the water shortages experienced in recent years, especially during peak periods.

According to the President and General Director of the National Water Exploitation and Distribution Company, the daily production capacity of the Al-Zarat seawater desalination plant is assessed at 50,000 cubic meters, up to 100,000 cubic meters.
