The Office of the House of People’s Representatives today discussed a request made by the president of the republic concerning two bills approving the convention relating to the advantages of exploitation of the exploitation permit of hydrocarbons of Ashtart and the Rahmoura oil field. “The specialized permanent commission has decided to withdraw these two bills,” announces the parliament.
As a reminder, these two bills are part of the benefits examination process for which the expiration period has expired and were approved during a ministerial session held on May 17, 2022.
The Ashtart oil field agreement (Gulf of Gabès) was signed in October 2023 between the Tunisian State and the Tunisian Petroleum Activities Company (ETAP), which plays the role of entrepreneur, on the one hand, and the company PERENCO Tunisia Oil and Gaz on the other hand, 50% for each party.
The exploitation advantage of Ashtart comes within the framework of the authorization for hydrocarbon exploration in the Gulf of Gabès, according to a decision of the Minister of the National Economy dating from June 30, 1973, with a validity period of 50 years which concluded on December 31, 2023.
