President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed welcomed Thursday, January 11, 2024, Haykel Ben Mahfoudh, elected judge at the International Criminal Court.

The Head of State congratulated Haykel Ben Mahfoudh on this election, stating that it “is not a coincidence but constitutes recognition of Tunisian skills on an international scale”. This meeting also made it possible to address “the role of the international criminal court in crimes falling under its jurisdiction”.

Kaïs Saïed stressed, again according to the presidential press release, that “the situation in the world is developing and that people aspire to a more egalitarian world order in all areas”.

During this meeting, the President of the Republic returned to “the crimes perpetrated today before the eyes of the whole world against the Palestinian people”, affirming that these are “crimes against Humanity which cannot continue and cannot go unpunished.”
