Tunisia – Kaïs Saïed receives PM Hachani

President of the Republic, Kais Saied, examined, during his meeting this afternoon, Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at  CarthagePalace, with Prime Minister Ahmed El Hachani, a certain number of subjects, in particular, the government activity in the past few days, especially in the area of monitoring the implementation of significant projects that have remained blocked for many years, or have not been launched, or have been launched and blocked for different reasons, and in many cases, because of the corruption of lobbyists who consider the implementation of these projects a violation of their interests.

The necessity to put an end to what is called slavery, which is hidden slavery, was also mentioned: it is trafficking in the sweat of employees and almost amounts to trafficking of human beings. What right does a person have to work for low pay when the business owner is paid much more than that?

The President of the Republic also highlighted the need to find a quick solution so that agricultural workers can exercise their rights outside of what is called this or that mechanism. What is generally called a mechanism means that many people find themselves in delicate situations that are not acceptable to a state whose policies are based on justice and equity.

On another level, the meeting examined Tunisia’s participation in the 37th ordinary session of the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, where the President of the Republic underlined, once again, that Tunisia works to make Africa for Africans and to put an end to the suffering of many African peoples over the decades although the African continent is rich of natural resources from which, unfortunately, most of the time, its population does not benefit, and hundreds of millions of people still live in poverty and hunger, in addition to terrorist organizations which have seen in this situation a space to further undermine security and stability.
