Tunisia – Kaïs Saïed speaks with Kamel Madouri

During his meeting on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the Carthage Palace, the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, examined with Prime Minister Mr. Kamel Medouri several draft texts that had been prepared and that will be submitted to the Council of Ministers for deliberation as soon as possible, including in particular: The text relating to the regulation of relations between the House of People’s Representatives and the Council of Regions and Districts, and a draft revision of the Labor Code to definitively put an end to what is called subcontracting and fixed-term contracts, as well as the settlement of the situation of agricultural employees.

The Head of State emphasised once again that the dignity of the nation is the dignity of its citizens and that all these situations must be addressed in an approach based not on half-measures, but rather on a decisive break with the heavy legacy accumulated over the decades.

The President of the Republic also underscored that national dignity is not just a slogan, but is rather related to the sovereignty of the Tunisian state. Just as Tunisia does not accept interference in the affairs of others, it does not accept that anyone meddles in its internal affairs, and it is the Tunisian people alone who make their choices in full respect of the law to create a new page of history and will never accept to go back.
