Tunisia-Kamel Ben Messaoud:Last press release from presidency confirms that Saïed wants to minimize role of judiciary

Speaking to  Tunisie Numérique, law professor and member of the defence committee Kamel Ben Messaoud hailed the signing of the presidential decree on the appointment of graduates of the Higher Institute of Magistracy.

He, nevertheless, voiced his dissatisfaction with the delay in the annual movement of the magistrates.

Remarking on the latest press release from the Presidency of the Republic, Ben Messaoud recollected that the president of the republic  Kais Saïed said, on the sidelines of his meeting with the Minister of Justice Leila Jaffel, that the decree in question gives him the law to oppose and refer the movement of the Superior Council of Magistracy on the basis of reports justifying this objection.

“The decree is unconstitutional because it breaks the principle of the separation of powers. Kais Saïed cannot interfere in this case. The latest press release proves, once again, that the head of state desires to minimize the role of the judiciary and monopolize all powers, “said our speaker.
