Tunisia – Kelibia: Arrest of organizer of illegal migration operations

Intelligence units in the maritime zone of the National Guard in Kélibia, in the maritime province of Sahel, have opened a judicial inquiry into “the formation of a consensus to clandestinely cross maritime borders clandestinely” after a group of families came forward and reported the loss of their children after partaking in an illegal shipping operation.

A joint patrol between the units as mentioned earlier, backed by the Naval Guard posts of Beni Khiar and Kélibia, and a team affiliated with the Intelligence Sub-Directorate of the Directorate of Information and Research, was able to stop one of the organizers of the operation and seize a car which would be employed to transport migrants. Necessary measures have been taken in this regard.
