Tunisia – Korchide announces having left the country and condemns abuses against his family

Former minister Mabrouk Korchide revealed his departure from the country (despite a travel ban inflicted on him) and voiced surprise in his blog over an investigation into his family, accused of covering up his fate.

He notably declared in his message:

In breach of the law and procedures, the public prosecutor opened a judicial inquiry against my family, my wife and my son, for having concealed my whereabouts, and summoned them to be questioned by one of the specialized teams.

All attorneys, from near or far, know that no crime can be committed against the family and that there are no consequences. This is a dangerous precedent that no previous regime has dared to perpetrate.

The truth that I cannot deny is that I left the country when I despaired of obtaining justice, as others did, and detention became the principle without compensation, following the rule that makes “Let your mother cry and not mine!” “.

I will return to my dear country when wickedness and injustice have disappeared and the desired justice can soon be obtained, with the help of God.

So cease disturbing the family and do not implicate them in a political conflict, and return to my two sons their computers on which they study and which only contain their academic courses, and return to my wife the ten thousand dinars which were removed from the house and allocated for their education and living expenses, as well as for the phones they use.
