Tunisia – law against speculation led to shortages of certain products on markets

Economy expert, Nafaâ Neifer, confirmed, yesterday, on the sidelines of a conference in Sousse, that speculation has always been an issue in Tunisia because of the scarcity of certain products, for natural reasons, among others, such as drought.

He added that the law promulgated to fight speculation has had the opposite effect since it has caused a worsening of shortages since traders and producers decline to buy, distribute, and above all, store certain products.

He called for another approach to the problem in cooperation with professionals in all sectors.
