The President of the National Council of Regions and Districts, Imed Al-Derbali, revealed that the basic law governing the work and powers of members of local, regional, and district councils is in its final phases and will soon be published. He made this statement during his participation in a drawing ceremony for the rotation of members in the regional council and the rotation of leadership within local and regional councils in Tunis on Sunday.
Al-Derbali clarified that the new law would result in laws tailored to the responsibilities of members of these councils, addressing the needs and expectations of citizens who interact with them in town halls, delegations, and governorates. This law is intended to regulate the relationships between local, regional, and district councils, as well as their interactions with the administration. He stressed the law’s importance in accomplishing the aspirations of Tunisians to establish a fairer and more effective governance system.
He further underscored that the success of these councils reflects Tunisia’s success in promoting social justice and balanced development. They are considered a crucial tool for fulfilling the aspirations of the people since the revolution. In his remarks, Al-Derbali called for increased support for these councils and for activating their roles in order to meet the desires of all citizens and help build a prosperous and just nation.
