Tunisia- Lawyers in Grand Tunis go on strike from this Monday

The police force this evening burst into the headquarters of the Maison de l’Avocat as part of an operation aimed at conducting an arrest warrant against lawyer and columnist Sonia Dahmani. This warrant had been issued the day before by the investigating judge of the Tunis Court of First Instance.

Mobilization of Lawyers in Response

As a sign of protest and to mark their disagreement with what they view to be an attack on the Maison de l’Avocat, the union of lawyers in the Tunis region declared a general strike impacting all the courts of Greater Tunis from of this Monday, May 13, 2024 and without giving a date for the end of the strike.
