Lawyers will be on strike next Friday at the call of the Tunisian National Bar Association (Onat) to denounce “pressure on the justice system” and “impunity”. The decision was taken after an extraordinary meeting of the Bar Council held on Monday, October 12 in Tunis.
The council also decided to organize next Friday a protest movement before the Tunis Court of First Instance, followed by a march to, Kasbah, to denounce what it qualifies as “pressure” exercised over justice and impunity.
In addition, the Council of the Bar Association underlined its intention to create, with the help of civil society, a National Observatory to report violations of the rights of the Defense in the various stages of the trials.
“Legal action will be taken to the prosecution against the regional union of the internal security forces of Ben Arous, for abuse of power,” said the Council in a statement.
