President of the Tunisian Federation of Insurance Companies (FTUSA) Hassène Feki revealed this Monday, October 2, 2023, that today, less than 8% of farmers are insured in Tunisia.
He explained that “farmers are only insured against hail on crops, but unfortunately, this type of insurance needs support from public authorities because today insurance against hail is not mandatory and therefore does not apply.
“Ensure that the farmers who know they are placed on a hail corridor and ultimately the insurers do not find their account since they know that they will insure at a loss and accordingly the prices are high” he adds.
