Tunisia-Local elections: Mansri corrects participation figure and insists on serious investigation

The spokesperson for the independent higher body for the elections (ISIE), Mohamed Tlili Mansri, addressed this Monday, February 5 the second round of local elections organized yesterday Sunday. He added that the governorates of Sidi Bouzid, Zaghouan and Kasserine rank first for the participation rate, while the governorates of Ben Arous, Tunis and Ariana are in the last places. Tlili Mansri added that 72 women and 707 men were appointed yesterday. Concerning age groups, he said that the percentage of local elected officials under 36 was 17%, for those between 36 and 60 years old weighed 47%. For elected officials aged 60 and over there are 8.1%.

By commenting on the participation figures, the spokesperson for the ISIE said that Tunisian voters have more appetite for the presidential election and that a serious study is needed on this phenomenon, something that Mansri had already said on December 25th…
