The Tunisian League for the Defense of Human Rights (LTDH), called on prime minister Hichem Mechichi to step down and to make way for a national dialogue between political parties, national NGOs, and independents who believe in democracy.
This call was launched at the conclusion of a meeting held between a delegation of the LTDH and the prime minister during which the two parties addressed different issues relating to freedoms and human rights.
The LTDH evoked the critical situation in which the nation finds itself, in particular, due to corrupt justice and the failure to respect civil and political freedoms including the right to demonstrate, calling in this context for the release of young demonstrators.
