Tunisia-Mahjoub Ouni :Some people have hereditary and immune traits that protect them against coronavirus

Some people have hereditary and immune traits that protect them from contracting the coronavirus even by frequenting an infected person without any protection, virology professor at the Monastir Faculty of Pharmacy Mahjoub Ouni announced.

In a statement to the TAP agency, the reality that this category of people is not contaminated with the virus reveals that the virus has not been able to enter the cells of these individuals because of the absence of a genetic basis for susceptibility to the virus, indicating that there are many elements around the cells of the body that actively defend themselves and prevent the virus from accessing them.

The specialist explained that a person’s infection with viruses, in general, is connected to the predisposition of the body and the existence of a favourable genetic basis related to the nature of the proteins and antibodies against the viruses present in the body, stating that ”there are several factors supporting the genetic predisposition which explains the variability of the effect of viruses on infected people, despite their belonging to the same family.
