Tunisia-Major seizure of cannabis at Bizerte port: 80 kg intercepted

In a significant stride against drug trafficking within Tunisia, the National Anti-Narcotics Brigade intercepted a substantial drug shipment at the Bizerte commercial. The operation targeted a consignment transported by boat from abroad, culminating in the seizure of about 80 kg of cannabis, colloquially known as “Zatla”.

The successful interception was enabled by critical intelligence relayed to the Central Narcotics Unit. A comprehensive inquiry ensued, unearthing the smuggling scheme. The operation led to the detention of two people, with efforts continuing to dismantle the broader network involved in this drug trafficking attempt.

This seizure highlights the effectiveness and alertness of Tunisian security forces in fighting drug trafficking. It also emphasizes the crucial role of cooperation and intelligence in thwarting the influx of illegal drugs into the country, reinforcing the commitment to safeguarding national security and public health.
