The Union of University Professors and Researchers (IJABA) asked the educational body to boycott the exams in the make-up session as well as graduation projects. Calling for discussion of graduation projects and remote memories, IJABA highlighted the gravity of the health situation in the country and its consequences on the safety of university teachers.
Ijaba, therefore, condemned the establishment of a general lockdown in various regions severely affected by the pandemic without taking into record the academic body.
According to the same source, this decision was adopted following the health collapse in the country as well as the indifference of prime minister Hichem Mechichi towards the demands of the teachers regarding the delay of the makeup session for September. Added to this is the persistence of Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Olfa Ben Ouda in wanting to “sacrifice” the university family for its own agenda.
