Tunisia-Malek Ayari: “We decided to suspend protest, and boycott of classes and blocking numbers may also be suspended” [Video]

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, national coordinator of the deputy professors Malek Ayari noted that the change made at the level of the Ministry of Education is significant for the deputy professors, but the steps taken remain the most vital.

Ayari revealed that the representative professors were optimistic regarding this change, especially after the first session that brought together the Minister of Education with the National Coordination of Representative Professors. In this session, different administrative and technical points were examined, such as updating the database from 2008-2016 to include data until 2023 and creating a separate database for statements from 2016-2023. Besides, there was a proposal to potentially include the remaining representatives after the conclusion of the 2023-2024 academic year through an additional report. The issue of outstanding financial dues was furthermore addressed, and according to Ayari, these matters have almost been fixed.

The speaker stated that there will be a session today between the General University of Secondary Education and the Human Resources Office of the Ministry of Supervision, particularly related to the objections and those who abandoned the third batch, numbering 47, and the concerns of derivative certificates and certificates that are not subject to Order 3123, underscoring that these sessions are a positive signal. But what remains most crucial is the implementation of the previous agreements that concern the Batch of 1000, according to the 2020 minutes.

In the same context, Ayari pointed out that the most important deal for the deputy professors is the 2023 agreement, which stipulates an end to vulnerable employment.

Concerning the protest movements with which was formerly threatened the deputy professors, which mainly represented the protests, the boycott of lessons, and the blocking of numbers, Ayari said that the protest was suspended to support the sectoral action scheduled for April 25, because it includes the sector as a whole nd public school.

As for the decision to boycott and withhold numbers, it will also be suspended, following the decisions that may be issued in the minutes of the session, because there are positive initial signs to the file of the representative professors, particularly after the resumption of negotiations, and Ayari applauded this initiative, which may lead to the stability of the academic season.
