Tunisia – Mechichi: An official visit to France that begins in the absence of French officials

For his first tour outside the nation, we can not say that Hichem Mechichi has succeeded in his French trip.

In fact, he arrived in France on Saturday morning. However, no official was expecting for him at the airport, or anywhere else, either. He spent his first day doing nothing. He had no activity for Saturday.

On Sunday he had to content himself with talking with representatives of the Tunisian diaspora in France. And, nevertheless, no shadow of a French official was present.

His agenda for tomorrow, Monday, invites for approximately 20 minutes with the French prime minister. And, until that moment, still no assurance of a likely interview, even as a courtesy, at the Elysee Palace.

However, a few days ago, a simple French Secretary of State was allowed to all the honours, from the Kasbah to Carthage.

However, it is assumed that Mechichi made the trip to Paris at the invitation of his French counterpart. Unless he had, a little, the hand of the French authorities to be invited to make this “official” visit!
