Tunisia – Medenine: Arrest of scammer who operated through Facebook

Members of the Judicial Division of the National Guard in Médenine managed to unmask a scammer from the Bizerte region who had intentionally made false accounts on social networks.

A security source explained that this person posed as a large motorcycle dealership and requested certain social media users to deposit sums of money as an advance before sales.

The same source added that the number of defrauded victims in the Medenine region reached 12 people, emphasising that he was apprehended after an ambush prepared by agents of the Judicial Division in Medenine.

By bringing him to the division headquarters and confronting him with clues and evidence, he admitted to what was attributed to him, and the Medenine prosecutor’s office re-examined the case and authorized his arrest and the completion of all legal proceedings concerning him.
