Tunisia-Meknassi: Phosphate mine workers threaten to cut off phosphate transport

Workers at the Meknassi phosphate mine today threatened to stop the movement of trains and trucks transporting phosphate and goods on the national road No. 14 in case the Gafsa Phosphate Company does not respond favourably to their demands, namely:

  • Entry into operation of the mine
  • Establishment of 158 workers
  • Payment of wages for the transitional period from May 27 to January 1, 2022.
