Tunisia – Metlaoui: Dismantling of hallucinogenic tablet trafficking network

Security units in Metlaoui, under the Gafsa governorate, apprehended a person in his private car, in which 100 hallucinogenic tablets were discovered. A subsequent search of the individual’s house revealed an additional 1,060 hallucinogenic tablets of the same type. Similarly, two other individuals, a man and his sister, were arrested in possession of 4 hallucinogenic tablets. Authorities likewise seized 4,000 dinars in national currency by promoting prohibited items and several cellular SIM cards.

After a thorough inquiry, it was found that a fourth person, who is the subject of three wanted notices and lives outside the national territory, is responsible for supplying the aforementioned criminal network with hallucinogenic tablets through illegal immigration by boat. The Public Prosecutor’s Office authorized the arrest of all those involved. It included the fourth person in the search, for charges related to the supply, promotion, transport, and possession of narcotics.
