Tunisia-Migration of doctors increase in 2024… Dr. Boukhris discloses reasons [Video]

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, Treasurer of the National Council of the Deanship of Physicians, Dr. Khalil Boukhris, alerted of the increasing migration of doctors during 2024, which in 2023 reached about 1,350 physicians.

Bukhris stated that a notable number of doctors have cancelled their membership in the deanship or obtained certifications of good conduct since the beginning of 2024, particularly specialist doctors and young doctors, in addition to several other doctors who own private clinics.

Concerning the reasons, our speaker clarified that they are mainly due to the difficult working conditions that must be improved, in addition to the violence directed at young doctors in particular, in hospitals and emergency departments, in the absence of a law that shields them, particularly to medical responsibility, as the doctor has become exposed in every situation. From time to time suspension and trial, emphasising that doctors demand that medical work not be criminalized.

The Treasurer of the National Council for the Deanship of Physicians pointed out the incredible value of the fees inflicted on private sector doctors during the first years of opening their clinics, underlining that the financial reason is at the bottom of the list of factors leading to the migration of doctors.
