Tunisia-Military service will soon be compulsory for women too

Minister of Defense Ibrahim Bartagi announced that his department has prepared a project related to military service, which involves a revision of the national service system so that it becomes mandatory on an equal footing between males and females.

Speaking at a hearing in parliament, he underlined that the project likewise designs to give more flexibility to military service through the possibility of performing military service within the framework of the public service (in the health sector for example), while maintaining the character obligatory.
