Tunisia-Minister of Economy lifts the veil on the goals of the national reform program (Video)

Speaking at a press conference held today, Economy Minister Samir Saïed examined the different challenges confronting the government since his appointment. Among these challenges is the decrease in the growth rate, budgetary imbalances, the growth in the debt ratio and the regression of Tunisia’s sovereign rating.

Added to this, are the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. According to Saïed, the administration undertook from the beginning to adopt a number of reforms following a broad and participatory approach, in partnership with the social parties concerned, with a view to recovering the confidence of investors, improving administrative services, revitalising the economy and boost digitization.

The official recollected that 13 urgent measures have been put in place by the government to secure economic recovery in the country, adding that 13 teams made up of professionals working within the public service and private institutions have taken charge of the modernization of investment programs. Samir Saïed clarified that the national reform program seeks to revise the legislative framework for investment as well as the Foreign Exchange Code and remove authorizations and licenses in order to facilitate administrative procedures.
