Tunisia-Minister of Education: We must Coexist with COVID-19 ,will not relinquish any subject

The Minister of Education, Fathi Sallawi, emphasised during his field visit to the governorate of Kairouan today, Monday, September 21, 2020, that the ministry is operating hard to make the school return victorious by approving a policy of graduality and flexibility.

The minister indicated that the government does not bear and beat the hands of abusers, referring to the deficiencies that occurred in public institutions, such as cheating in construction, and new methods of monitoring and evaluation must be found.

He also affirmed that the decisions to close schools are made after consulting specialists at the Ministry of Health, and there is no abandonment of teaching materials, but rather there is a shortage in the number of hours and more than half of the program must be finished, , he considered it a bet for the Ministry of Education by adopting new scientific approaches and methods by the educational framework and allocating between 4 and 5 weeks to catch up with the program for the previous academic year.

The Minister admitted that there is no equality between students in the various states of the Republic, and that is why the Ministry dropped the adoption of the remote teaching system, welcoming the decision of the Labor Union and the Organization of Customs and Banks represented in supporting the state’s efforts to improve the infrastructure of more than 400 schools in various regions. He said that regional educational councils would be organized in the states.

It is noteworthy that the minister supervised a mini-work session at the state headquarters, in the presence of the governor of Kairouan, Mohamed Bourguiba, and a number of the body’s deputies, the education delegate and the general secretary of the Regional Labor Union.
