Tunisia-Minister of Finance: Delay in payment of wages occurred due to the weekend

Minister of Finance Sihem Namisa confirmed this evening Tuesday, February 01, 2022, that the ministry is engaged in securing all financial expenses on time, in particular those related to wages. Clarifying that salaries, in general, are paid the last week of each month and that the ministry secures them from the 21st or 22nd according to a specific schedule.

Nevertheless, this step was carried out this January with delay. “Indeed, the process began on January 21 but January 22 and 23 coincided with a weekend, so the delay occurred,” she said.

Adding that the Ministry of Education is the last according to the schedule. As a result, the wages of its affiliates were paid on Friday January 28 and they could not withdraw them after the weekend of January 31. Stressing that any delay in the payment of wages was caused by a day or two of non-working days.
