Tunisia – Minister of Finance receives delegation from World Bank

On Saturday, Minister of Finance Sihem Boughdiri Namsia met with a World Bank delegation at the ministry’s headquarters, led by World Bank Executive Director Tokir Shah and accompanied by the Bank’s representative in Tunisia, Alexandre Arrobio.

A ministry-issued press release documented that the gathering acted as a platform to examine the ongoing partnership programs between Tunisia and the World Bank, assess the progress in executing various components and discuss future work agendas.

Minister Namsia voiced her contentment with the current level of collaboration between Tunisia and the World Bank, signalling a wish to further enhance and diversify this partnership. She stressed the strategic nature of the relationship, stressing its strength and multifaceted aspects.

During the meeting, Namsia presented critical indicators demonstrating Tunisia’s economic and financial resilience, despite the adverse effects of the global pandemic, climate change, and geopolitical tensions. She admitted the challenges confronting public finances but reaffirmed Tunisia’s commitment to slowly improving financial and economic conditions through national reforms. These reforms are designed to restore financial stability, stimulate investment, and reinforce the state’s social responsibilities.

Tokir Shah, representing the World Bank, reassured Tunisia of the Bank’s steady support, pledging assistance for project implementation and achieving the country’s goals. He highlighted the importance of enhanced coordination between the two parties for more effective cooperation in key areas.
