Tunisia-Minister of Health announces target vaccination of 280,000 citizens by end of March

Health Minister Faouzi Mehdi has declared that the aim is to vaccinate 280,000 citizens by the conclusion of March against the coronavirus.
In a press statement on the occasion of his visit to Beja where he moved to the regional coronavirus vaccination centre on the occasion of the commencement of the campaign, he admitted some problems at the start however everything has been set up to carry out the operation with speed.
Referring to anxiety and reluctance over vaccinations, he emphasised that this is not true given that hundreds of millions of people have been vaccinated throughout the world without significant side effects.
Mahdi pointed out that people have been vaccinated today without a problem ensuring that 10,000 new registrants for the vaccine were enrolled on the platform on Saturday, securing that this proves that the fear is not justified.
Speaking of the appearance of the new  COVID-19 variant, he stressed that the ministry has extended the analyzes and sequencing operations of the genome of the virus to contain it, welcoming the commencement of the vaccination campaign to contribute to the fight against the pandemic.
He likewise affirmed that the Russian Sputnik vaccine is efficient, adding that all vaccines are active against the new variant. In addition, he recognized the presence of gaps and insufficiency in the health system, in particular inside the nation and in Beja, confirming that the delays in the construction of a CHU in Beja are illustrated by problems of provisions of coordination between the donors and the Tunisian authorities.
In this regard, he displayed the hope of obtaining a solution to this issue to start the project.
