The judges are currently pursuing a strike to improve their socio-professional conditions.
The Minister of Justice Mohamed Boussetta called on the judges who are asking salary increases to take into account the country’s financial situation and the many difficulties it is currently facing.
Auditioned by the General Legislation Committee at the House of People’s Representatives, the minister emphasised that disadvantaged regions and the unemployed youth across the country should be given top priority from the administration.
The minister stated he understood the social needs of the magistrates, weighing that it “difficult for the moment to raise wages, due to the economic crisis in the country.
“The government is currently looking into putting in place an approach to solve outstanding issues, particularly with regard to the state budget,” he said.
In addition, the minister confirmed that his department will cover the costs of care for magistrates who have been infected by the coronavirus.
