Rene Trabelsi, Minister of Tourism and Handicraft met with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Tunisia Louise de Sousa to properly examine possible ways of reinforcing cooperation between the two countries in the sector of tourism.
During the meeting  a joint programming commission was cordially approved between the two counterparts for the development of sustainable tourism. The British Tunisian sustainable tourism covenant will be contracted between the ministry of tourism and Handicrafts, the Ministry of Local Affairs and the Environment, the British embassy in Tunisia, various British tour operators and The Tunisian Federation of Hotels.
The agreement will aim to care for the environment in touristic areas and diverse regions through the used reduction of plastic materials in hotels and commercial space. Moreover, it will overwhelmingly focus on the promotion of Tunisian handicrafts and the reinforcing of Tourist police in touristic areas.
