The Ministry of Health has issued a warning regarding the Listeria bacteria, describing it as a “silent enemy” that can hide in our everyday foods, particularly in meat, unpasteurized milk, and unwashed vegetables.
In a statement on its official page, the ministry clarified that Listeria can cause severe illnesses, particularly among pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of an infection include high fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headaches, and muscle pain. In severe cases, it can lead to meningitis or sepsis.
To prevent Listeria infections, the Ministry of Health has urged the public to follow hygiene rules, wash hands thoroughly, regularly clean kitchen utensils, keep raw meat separate from ready-to-eat foods, cook food properly—especially meat, poultry, and fish—use clean water and fresh ingredients, avoid consuming unpasteurized milk and dairy products, and check expiration dates and storage temperatures on products.
