Tunisia: Ministry of Religious Affairs publishes a series of measures to guarantee the neutrality of mosques and places of worship

In preparations for the next legislative and presidential elections, Ahmed Adhoum minister of Religious Affairs sent a letter to all Regional religion Directorates asking them to abide by neutrality and the divesting of institutions. Minister Adhoum further asked all preachers and imams to keep politics and propagandas far away from places of worship. Moreover, they asked a list of religious personnel who submitted their nomination for the next election to take legal action against them. According to Tunis Afrique Presse, This correspondence comes down in the context of preventing the exploitation of places of worships for the propaganda of parties or lists concerned with the election.
