Tunisia-Ministry of Transport: Mobile taxi apps are illegal [Audio]

Director of land transport at the Ministry of Transport, Nizar Ben Mohamed talked about the great controversy in Tunisia in recent days which somehow hinders the interests of citizens.

Ben Mohamed confirmed to Tunisie Numérique that mobile taxi applications, which are currently in high demand from citizens, are illegal. He added that the law requires owners of individual taxis to transport passengers according to a legally defined tariff in coordination with the ministries of transport and commerce.

Our speaker explained that this tariff was updated in November 2019 and was executed on February 15, 2020. The same source added that any taxi owner who does not respect this tariff is liable to penalties provided by law.
