Tunisia- Mofdi Mseddi hails Kaïs Saïed’s efforts to save and protect Tunisians

During his intervention, this morning on the airwaves of a private radio channel, the prime minister’s communications advisor Mofdi Mseddi communicated his gratitude to former minister of Health Faouzi Mehdi for taking responsibility for the Ministry in a challenging health context.

Mofdi Mseddi evoked that the former Minister of Health Faouzi Mehdi was affected by the cabinet reshuffle carried out by Hichem Mechichi . Despite this, and given the gravity of the epidemiological situation, the latter was retained in his post to avoid potential problems related to the change in leadership at the head of the ministry, he added.

Questioned about the open vaccination chaos, Mr Mseddi announced the decision to organize such an event cannot be made unilaterally. The organizational aspect should have been considered in more detail before the media announcement, via a press conference, days because the implementation needs prior arrangement of many days, said Mseddi.

Mofdi Mseddi emphasised that he understood the fragility of the work of the Minister of Health in this critical period and that he has no doubt about the goodwill of Mehdi to open vaccination to all age groups. The fact remains that it is impossible to take such a decision and to notify the Ministry of the Interior just 24 hours before it takes place.

Regarding the latest statements by Mehdi according to which he said the vaccination was organized under pressure from Kasbah, Mofdi Mseddi declared that the Presidency of the government had opened an inquiry, the results of which will be communicated to the public in complete transparency.

For Mofdi Mseddi, Kasbah’s top priority is to vaccinate as several people as possible and protect the population. Mr Mseddi thanked the Presidency of the Republic and the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, for the significant efforts made to enable an adequate supply of aids, vaccines, oxygen and medical materials for the citizens.

He additionally thanked all state structures and private stakeholders as well as civil society for their union. Mofdi Mseddi said that there is no room for “lobbying” in such a complicated context, the priority is to rally and unite to preserve the lives of Tunisians.
