Social Affairs Minister Mohamed Trabelsi said on Friday during a plenary session at the parliament that the number of workers laid off in the during the first 9 months of 2020, amounted to more than 10,000 workers spread over 73 institutions.
In response to questions from deputies, Trabelsi admitted that the economic and social consequences of the COVID-19-pandemic were destructive on workers as well as on many liberal professions and sectors, consequently weakening the situation of these employees.
He further recorded that many companies have been driven into bankruptcy, or have resorted to reducing the number of workers and working hours.
