Civil society activist Mustapha Abdelkabir estimated that the number of immigrants from sub-Saharan nationals stranded at the Tunisian-Libyan border has increased to 305 people.
Mr Abdelkabir explained that the number of stranded migrants came after a period in which all those stranded in the desert border region were moved to Tunisian cities and accommodated, thanks to the efforts of the Tunisian Red Crescent volunteers and regional authorities.
Recall that 27 irregular migrants who have been living for more than 20 days at Medenine youth reception centre will be deported this evening to their countries of origin.
The deportation operation comes after coordination between the International Organization for Migration, and the embassies and diplomatic corps of these countries with respect to all legal requirements for voluntary deportation.
