Fires ravaged Dar Chichou Forest in El Haouaria at Nabeul half an hour before breaking the fast, efforts are still underway to control the fires.
Lotfi Ben Aliya regional director of civil protection told Jawhara FM that three Fire engines and two trucks belonging to the forest administration were dispatched on the scene. Nevertheless, the forest topography prevented the cars from interfering, firefighters were ordered to manage the fire while waiting for the visibility to clear.
He pointed out that the fires might have ravaged large areas which may reach or exceed 100 hectares. Reasons behind the fire are still unknown.
