Tunisia-Nabil Ammar and Iranian counterpart want to strengthen bilateral relations

The meeting between Nabil Ammar, the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, and his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, during the working visit to Geneva on December 12, 2023, underscored the positive state of bilateral ties between Tunisia and Iran. Both parties acknowledged the significance of strengthening cooperation in various sectors, including science, economics, trade, and education.

In addition to examining bilateral matters, the ministers also addressed current international issues, with a particular focus on the situation in Palestine. The press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) indicated that both Tunisia and Iran shared positions on different global matters.

The Iranian Foreign Minister voiced appreciation for Tunisia’s initiatives and positions at both national and international levels regarding the Palestinian issue. He specifically acknowledged Tunisia’s support for the Palestinian people and praised the country’s efforts in hosting Palestinian patients and wounded individuals.

Minister Nabil Ammar reiterated Tunisia’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and highlighted the urgent necessity for an immediate and lasting ceasefire. He expressed his dismay at the perceived failure of the international community to address the ongoing challenges and hardships faced by the Palestinian population, referring to it as a form of genocide.
