Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, President of the Democratic Women’s Association Naila Zaghlami disclosed that the organization is spearheading an awareness campaign sought to promote the adoption of an additional protocol to the CEDAW Convention, also known as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. This additional protocol especially addresses various forms of violence and the imperative of safeguarding women from such violence.
Zaghlami stressed that international agreements in this regard did not particularly include the types of violence to which women may be exposed, so the association is organizing the campaign in multiple Tunisian states, in addition to other associations in other countries operating on the same file.
Our speaker also underlined their work to issue a protocol that protects women from all forms of violence, away from all forms of discrimination against women, and calls for women not to be weakened due to their incapacity to confront this violence.
