Tunisia-National Authority for Prevention of Torture calls for avoiding collective punishment against detainees

The National Authority for the Prevention of Torture (INPT) today called for avoiding collective sanctions against civil servants and prisoners in prisons in reaction to the escape of five terrorists from Mornaguia prison at the end of October 2023 The INPT called for launching in-depth inquiries to learn lessons and detect failures.

The body likewise called for launching a social dialogue on the reality of prisons in Tunisia which, according to the body, encounter several security, educational and health challenges.
